Europa Season 2015 / 2016

Starting from 23rd of October, 2015 until 20th of May, 2016, “Oltenia” Philharmonic presents “Europe Season”, having as partners the Embassies and Consulates of the EU Member States in Bucharest and The Chamber of Commerce and Industry “Oltenia” - Dolj County.

Through its amplitude and novelty, the project highlights the importance of reuniting the multicultural values of European spiritual heritage, plaited in an unique artistic season.

On the “Oltenia” Philharmonic’s stage will be performed 28 concerts dedicated to the European Union member states, having as guest artists 28 conductors and 31 soloists. Highly acclaimed musicians, they will represent their native countries in the city of Craiova. To the music audiences, through their professional mastery they will offer, as well, contemporary music works (majority of them first auditions), created by the native composers from each invited EU state.

The program of “Europe Season”, alongside with the concerts events, includes art exhibitions, book presentations, business meetings and other cultural activities. Also, during the concert season are invited the best students from conservatories and music academies from the representative countries.

The “Europa Season”:

• invites in Craiova prominent artists and brings together representatives of foreign and local entrepreneurs, developing a dynamic business environment;
• creates real opportunities from which will benefit the tourism, economy and culture, as well;
• promotes high level quality of performing arts and is pioneering music works of contemporary composers from the 28 European Union member states.

As organizer, the “Oltenia” Philharmonic fulfilled all the necessary steps to implement the “Europa Season”, offering musical events with a high level of artistic performance. The variety of the repertoire (each country constituting an unique cultural entity) confirms the European principle of unity within diversity.
